With two dogs who shed, we knew we wanted to get an air purifier for our daughter's room to make sure the air was free and clear for her little growing lungs. We love our dogs and want them to be a constant presence for her, and that includes allowing them in her room. We obviously take other measures to keep her room clean of various things that both would and wouldn't be picked up by a purifier, but we knew we wanted to find a good little purifier that would do the job. Enter the Mooka Air Purifier. Let's get into it.

The Details

This little guy sits in the corner of our daughter's room pumping away each day and blends right in. It's very quiet, compact, and sleek and does the exact job its intended to do.

Aside from cleaning the air, an important feature to me was being able to keep it looking clean. This is not that difficult to do but it is difficult to remember to do. There are ridges on this particular Mooka design, making it necessary to put a little elbow grease into play to make sure you're getting the dust that can collect on the outside. If I was doing it all over again, I would probably buy a Mooka Air Purifier without any design.

Now that our daughter is starting to toddle around, she has discovered this little purifier and she does enjoy pressing the buttons at the top. The only thing this really messes with is the speed, which is an easy fix. And, if we really wanted to prevent her from changing the settings, there's a child lock feature we could enable.

The control panel has features like indicating when the filter needs to be replaced, switching speeds between low, medium and high, turning on and off the lights on the control panel, and a 2 to 8 hour timer. The filter is also easy to replace, and we have our filters on a 6-month subscription. When I am deep cleaning, I will vacuum out the filter from time to time just to give it a little more life. I find that this works really well, especially in the months where our german shepherd is shedding his coat.

There are a lot of opinions out there about sound machines for little ones, and I don't have an opinion to provide on that. We've never used a sound machine just because it felt like one more thing to think about, but I would say that depending on the speed of this purifier, it can sound like a sound machine. The sound is a white-noise fan type of sound. This Mooka model boasts of being ultra quiet, and it can be on the lowest setting, but when it's going full speed, you can hear it. That's not to say that you can't turn it off at night or during nap time, or just turn it to its lowest setting. I can say that it has never bothered our daughter, and we even have one in our room and barely notice the noise.

The best part about this air purifier is the price. Some air purifiers can run in the hundreds and that may be worth it if you're trying to use it in a large open space, but for working on one room like our daughter's room or our room, this air purifier is well-priced at $76. Before we got one for our daughter's room, we had this model in our living room, and it did a great job there as well. We've had this model for almost 3 years and it's still going strong.
